Advanced Disclosures Ltd is a Registered Body with the Disclosure and Barring Service and an "Umbrella Body" working on behalf of organisations that are unable to apply for disclosure checks themselves. We are approved by the Disclosure and Barring Service to process DBS checks for eligible applicants.
ensure the application form is fully completed and that the information it contains is accurate;
check the information provided against suitable forms of identification;
countersign application forms to confirm the organisation has an entitlement to access criminal record information;
comply with DBS Code of Practice;
monitor all applications in progress with the DBS; and
inform the organisation once the certificate has been dispatched to the applicant.
Anyone involved in regulated activity with children and vulnerable adults must have an Enhanced Disclosure beforehand.
Regulated activity is contact with a child/children/vulnerable adult that occurs frequently. This is defined as at least once a week, or more than 4 days in any 30 day period.
If you wish to apply for DBS checks as part of your recruitment process or ongoing Safeguarding Procedures you must be entitled to ask exempted questions under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 Exceptions Order 1975. (An exempted question is a valid request for a person to reveal their full criminal history (including spent convictions) and is made possible by virtue of the Exceptions Order to the ROA 1974).
